Hi Howard, I like the photo of you playing the violin that you use as your member avatar pic. Let me guess, the tune you are so soulfully playing is "Requiem for My Opponents". Anyway, now knowing that you have had your fingers classically trained on a musical instrument leads me to reflect on what seems to me, in the short time I've known you, to be your signature Crokinole shot. To the layman, it might be characterized as 'abrupt' and 'explosive'. But now that I know you have a musical background I googled 'musical terminology' and I'm trying to decide between 'staccato' and 'pizzicato'. Not that I know anything about musical terms (which is now probably obvious). Then I thought of another description which I checked and appears in football and baseball but can't really be borrowed from those sports to fit what I want. What would you think Howard if I described your shot as a 'flea-flicker'? I have to ask people who have seen you play a lot longer than I have if that would be a fitting term.

First year I played in what became the ST,JACOBS CROKINOLE CLUB
was 1958.
Have been a signed up member from 1960 forward.
Originally we played in Elmira , until we moved to the old firehall
on king st. St. Jacobs.
From there we moved to our present location, upstairs at the new
fire staion on Water Street St.Jacobs ONT.

Hi Howard, welcome to the blog -er ... I mean 'online-community'. It's Eric Miltenburg out in Toronto. I'm planning to come down to St. Jacob's on Monday as a spare if you think you'll have a spot for me (and weather permitting).
- I have a copy of the 1988 Harrowsmith magazine article on Crokinole that has a lot to say about the St. Jacob's club. Since you guys are featured in the magazines and most of you have been in the club for ages I thought everyone would know about it but I'm not sure this is the case. I was talking to Hugh Kidnie last time about the 'perfect game' played some years back and the magazine mentioned that it had been done twice the year before 1987. Somebody might have been pulling the writer's leg. But anyway Hugh seemed to be unaware of the article so I'll bring down a couple of xerox copies for anyone who wants to read it.
-Oh, and I made up a group area for you guys, it has your crokinole clock as a logo. I'll send you an invite from there. It's a good place to make club announcements that club members can easily check online. If you have people's email addresses you can easily invite them to join the group and keep up with the news.

Hope to see you Monday,
