Points and Updates.

Did anybody take some pictures of the rankings at Tavistock. I would like to see where I stand in the league and I don't see much happening upstairs. Any photos from Tavistock or videos would also be awesome. I would be happy to post any and all pictures and put peoples names on it if they want to send them to me as well.

Cue Tournaments

I have had a request from membership. I quite frankly don't know of any other than Tavistock. Could anyone out there please provide dates and information for any tournaments that either are cue tournaments or have a cue division? It would be greatly appreciated.

Crokinole Statistics

I was just watching the video I had of Justin and Jason down in St. Jacob's when they both shot a perfect game to end the match. This got me thinking about the percentage of 20's made, and eventually led me to think about the overall statistics of the game. If someone was to keep statistics, what pieces of the game would be analysed, and what stats would be kept. A few immediately jumped to my mind.

1. Open 20% (the percentage of 20's made when a player…

Centre Shooting

At the highest levels crokinole is becoming a game of centre-shooting. This was evident in the final of the St Jacobs event between Jason Bierling and Justin Slater. There was very little play, mostly centre shooting. The culmination of this came in the final game. Each shot 8 centres (a perfect game to some)

Here are some suggestions to promote discussion. I do not recommend any particular one: I do not know the solution.

1. change the board to make…

Well I guess Clif is taking a well-deserved rest after running the big show out west over the weekend and Ray is either still out there or jet-lagged from the trip back. So how did it go? Well from the media reports it seems to have been a great success with 64 partcipants and ..... well, you can read it for yourself by following the link below:…

Golden Horseshoe Tournament in Hamilton booked to capacity.

A little Crokinole History about Hamilton. Two things you should know. Nature mimics Crokinole: The biggest centre pocket on earth is situated on the eastern edge of Hamilton, You can find it if you follow Hwy# 20 as it plunges down the Escarpment toward Lake Ontario. (It's true, I didn't photoshop the highway sign) And that trickle of water you can just barely see, those my friend, are known as… Continue

Wallaceburg Crokinole Club - Still Going Strong

Well it's well into July. The regulars are now becoming known, and we get a few new players here and there. We are averaging about 15-20 people every meeting ranging in age from 10 to 60+. Skill level ranges from Very Good to still needs some practice. We currently have between 12-14 boards from Yard Sales / Second Hand stores that I refab or repair. No eyes have been shot out yet. There has been alot of trash talk some by me. Some closet Crokinole players have come out to play. If you are… Continue

Kawartha Bowl 2009 - September 12

Hi everyone, hope you are all enjoying your summer. This is to just let you know that the 1st annual Kawartha Bowl in Peterborough is still a go. The first 24 people signed up are good to go while the rest will be put on a waiting list. I just want to point out a few differences between the new flyer on the website and the one that was distributed in Tavistock and St. Jacobs:

I indicated in the directions portion of the old flyer that the directions were to the curling club. It is in… Continue

Putting Photos on Club Space

Hi everyone. Can anybody tell me how to put photos exclusively on the club page? As you can see in the photo section, I tried doing this with little success, hence the repeat of the photos previously posted. Any help would be great.

Lindsay Post article celebrates the rise of the "Click Clique"

Seems to be an outpouring of press on crokinole. And about time too, eh?

Check out this article hailing from Lindsay (that would be the town, not any particular person you might know.)

It's not about tournaments and Tavistock per se and some of it is background stuff you read in every article on crokinole. However take note that it seems to refer to crokinole as being played in doubles and that each player gets five (5) discs. This is something I recently heard mentioned on the… Continue

Wallaceburg Club KickOff

On 6May09 @ 7pm, the Wallaceburg Crokinole Club held it's first offical get together. 13 players showed up to play. There were many old, new, and interesting boards to see and play on. I was able to remain undefeated in doubles until an old finger walked in the door and shut my partner and I down. Many games were won and lost by all with a chance for mingling that ranged in age from young (10) to old (70+). Time passed quickly and the night ended with the future challenges and lots of laughter.

Come Croke in the Big Smoke! Toronto Tournament May 23rd

Greetings to all from the '20' hole of the Universe.

Now even though no one in Toronto has ever claimed this title, there are many of our compatriots who would insist that this is how Torontonians view themselves. And even though it's not true, we are just too polite to argue about it.

I will however issue this challenge concerning Worldwide Crokinole Supremacy: if you wish to challenge Hogtown for the title of 'Peg City' - Saturday May 23rd is your chance. The… Continue
