After a very tough year which saw the loss of both the Kawartha Crokinole Club and the Kawartha Bowl Tournament, crokinole in Peterborough is giving it one more shot with a slight twist on the club concept.
The Kawartha Knights Crokinole Team (really REALLY tried to download the logo!) is a slight variance in that its members are a team, not a club. Membership is private (yet in no way exclusive, anyone interested may join) and the purpose is to develop each others skills…Continue
Couple of things.
1. The Belleville Tournament is fast approaching and I have not seen much chat on here about it in the last few days. Who's in? Who are the contenders? Who might surprise or upset? Let's show our support and get to Belleville!
2. The London Crokinole Club has just launched their own website. Check it out at http://www.londoncrokinoleclub.com
3. Crokinole Depot has a new player profile section…Continue
I have some sad news to pass on to the crokinole community. On Tuesday of last week George Cook, a founder and member of the executive of…Continue
Congratulations to all the winners of the 2011 WCC (the first major event on the 2011/2012 NCA tour). There were posssibly a few surprise upsets, along with the many predictible winners.
What now? are we in for a long drought from crokinole this summer? I would guess there will be the occasional mini match played at the cottage or at your home-before the NCA tour continues in the fall!…Continue
I think we did this last year too, and it got kind of interesting.
So, does anyone want to make any bold predictions for this year's tournament. Doubles? Singles? 20's? Intermediates? Cues? Top 4? Top 16?
There are 13 days until the 13th edition of the World Crokinole Championships. The countdown is on!
13 times Raymond Beierling has finished in the top 4, in doubles and singles competition combined (9 times in doubles, 4 times in singles)
12 years that the WCC has operated sanctioned tournaments
11 times Jason Beierling has finished in the top 4 in doubles…Continue
On the NCA site new rules have been posted which have been approved unanimously by the NCA. These rules have been compiled by me with input from players such as Brian Cook, Eric Miltenberg, Derek Hale, Ray Beierling, Jason Beierling, Jon Conrad, Howard Martin, Nathan Walsh, Joe Fulop and others. This does not imply that each of these players agrees with each rule in the final result. The intent was to set out the rules as they currently are, together with some recent changes adopted by the…Continue

I unfortunately have some bad news to report that Dr. Bruce Halliday passed away on January 1, 2011. I knew Dr. Halliday as an avid crokinole volunteer who served on the World Crokinole Championship Committee for several years. One of his most interesting crokinole accomplishments was getting World Championship tournament commemorated as part of the Canada Post pictorial cancels. (An article about that can be found on worldcrokinole.com, under the Media Resource Page.)

Talk about hiding your crokinole board under a bushel basket. What can you do with those modest folks out West, you have to toot their own horn for them.
Why does everything about this game have to be such a mystery?
Merry Christmas to all.

Is it true that, like snowflakes, no two discs are alike? ;^p Oh yeah, that old can of worms. Well, I just put that in because it evoked a winter theme. Actually I get the feeling that the old croke board sees more activity in the winter, especially the favoured 'family fracus' over Christmas, than it does at the cottage on a rainy day? Not so?
Anyway here is a nice piece on a hotly contested tournament that apparently takes place yearly running up to Christmas time for charity at CTV…Continue

For all those Dragon's Den enthusiasts, Wednesday someone will try for cash to promote his checker-pool game...looks like an old carrom/crokinole board from the pitch commercial. Check it out.

October 16th is coming quickly and the tables are filling up. We have superstars, darkhorses and unknowns already registered, but there is still room for you! Don't have a partner, you are not the only one. We can help pair you up!
Also, we have managed to secure a sponsor for our tournament. We would like to thank D & D Automation out of Stratford Ontario for their generousity.
Please remember, all proceeds are going to our Ontario Representative(s) who…Continue
